WAW Wednesday ... "5/16/18 -- It was a humbling experience to see the body of Christ at Work"

"The Word at Work is a ministry that mobilizes churches and individuals to answer God's call to minister to those in need," writes Rev. Tim Tam, Director of the Amarillo, Texas-based ministry. "Through our relationships, God reveals needs and opportunities for service. As we come along side the poor, new friendships develop and doors for ministry open. As we serve, God provides the resources to supply for the needs he reveals."

WAW Wednesday: "5/16/18 -- It was a humbling experience to see the body of Christ at Work"

"This is how everyone will recognize that you are my disciples—when they see the love you have for each other."
John 13:35 (MSG)

Friends,

Love So Big It Takes a Sea Container to Hold It

Cindy and Lonnie Wall have waited patiently on the Lord to send them to Belize. The sea container is finally loaded with what's left of their worldly possessions (and a truck to get Lonnie to his worksite), and it's on the sea now. The Wall's arrived in Belize April 30!

Led by their love of God and the relationships that have deepened over the years, the Walls are working with a couple of ministries - Child Development Foundation and King's Children's Home. Lonnie will oversee a project for CDF that will transform the lives of young women who are rescued from human trafficking. This project is the first of its kind it Belize - it's called Gomer House and you can help us build it by making a gift here!

Cindy will handle all of the bookkeeping duties and will also be a great help at KCH as Momma Leonie is in the U.S. working on citizenship requirements (more about that later).

Would you please join us in praying for the Wall's? They need to find a place to live in Belize; they need protection for their hearts as they've said goodbye to children and grandchildren that they love; they need God's spirit to fill them with stamina and strength for the journey ahead. And they need financial resources to keep them going - if you'd like to partner with them, please click here.

A Mother's Love

As the founder of King's Children's Home, Leonie Gillham has poured out the love of God on over 800 children. That's a lot of kids calling her Mom!! This Spring, Leonie is taking a much-needed break in the States. We're grateful to Brandon Lee and his family of Clovis, NM for providing a vehicle for Leonie to use while she's here sorting out the requirements for her U.S. citizenship. We're inviting you to help Leonie with some of her living expenses while she's here - thank you! Please keep Leonie in your prayers for rest and for an indwelling peace that only the Lord can provide.

(Not one to rest too much - Leonie has been invited to teach sewing in the Wayside area. If you've got a machine that is looking for a new home, your donation could be a great help to her in this ministry. Email us here if you've got one to bring by our office. Thank you!)

Love re-built Kenny & Claudia's house!

"For me, it was a humbling experience. To see the body of Christ come out to assist with less than a day's notice. The people that we've been working with for years were more than ready to drop their schedule and help us in our time of need."
-- Kenny Logan

Shortly after Kenny and Claudia were married in a sweet ceremony in the remote village of Santa Familia, Kenny discovered that the posts of their home had rotted - literally all the way through - it was a wonder the house was still standing.

"I needed help - more than the man in our village who raises houses - I needed manpower. I called on Julio and Pastor Victor in El Progresso with my urgent request and Pastor said he had to turn people away because so many came forward to assist us. Chepito came and helped as well as Claudia's brother-in-law. We were able to finish the work by 2pm--in one day," Kenny shared. "For me, it was a humbling experience. To see the body of Christ come out to assist with less than a day's notice. The people we've been working with for years were more than ready to drop their schedule and help us in our time of need."

Kenny's story is a great picture of John 13:55!

Joined in love and service

Kenny and Claudia were united in marriage April 28, 2018! We pray that God will bless their marriage as they serve so many that they love in Belize. Send your prayers and congratulations here.

Our busiest season is about to begin! Please pray for our Belize partners, our U.S. teams, and our staff - we all want to bring God glory as we connect the people of God in ways that honor Him!
