Invitation to Prayer from Faces of Children ... TODAY

Faces of Children is an ecumenical prayer ministry under the auspices of First Presbyterian Church of Midland, Texas. Their mission is to initiate ministries of prayer for children in churches, communities, and neighborhoods. In doing so, they seek to provide an opportunity for people of God to join together, learn about children and their needs throughout the world, and celebrate Christ's love (especially as it relates to children).

Invitation to Prayer ... TODAY

Dear Intercessors,

It's February... the month of love and hearts! I thought this February, we might take some time to pray for children affected by congenital heart defects. I have some stories and organizations I plan to profile in the coming weeks, and I thought I'd start with the one that first introduced me to the world of children needing heart surgery.

From 2008-2011, my husband and I lived in a little village outside of Beijing, China where we volunteered with New Day Foster Home, a small non-profit organization that partners with government orphanages around China to care for their more medically fragile children. With access to the capital's hospitals, a smaller caregiver-to-child ration, and more resources and connections than most orphanages, New Day is well-positioned to provide hope and healing to children born with serious medical problems.

While the focus has changed a bit through the years to include children with other rare and dangerous medical conditions, children with congenital heart defects remain a primary focus of the organization. In a country where there are only a few hospitals with surgeons capable of treating problems like these, and access to them is expensive, New Day helps kids have a second chance at life and fosters them until they are adopted.

If you need some encouragement and a reminder that God is always moving, spend some time reading through their kids' amazing stories. And if you want to work with New Day to help bring about this hope and healing, you can partner with them to provide medical care, daily needs, and supplies. (And I will personally attest to the efficacy and honesty of the organization.)

This week, I'd like to invite you to choose one or two children from the kids in their care and pray for them... pray for their physical healing and development, their emotional resiliancy as they go through hospitalizations and multiple moves between orphanages and NDFH and other places of care, and pray that ultimately they would be adopted by a loving family.

Blessings,

Carrie
