Partners Blog: "Light in the darkness"

Steve and Oddny Gumaer started Partners Relief and Development in response to the needs of refugees and displaced people from Burma, and now in the Middle East, as well. Their mission is to demonstrate, through holistic action, God’s love to children and communities made vulnerable by war in Southeast Asia, the Middle East and other conflict zones.

A few months ago I went along to the Vincent Van Gogh Exhibition here in Melbourne. I knew a little bit about Vincent, mostly from the well-known song written by Don McLean, Starry Starry Night. What surprised me, apart from his incredible artistic talent, were the stories that went with the paintings and the quotes from letters to his brother. One quote that really struck me was: ‘And yet it was only while painting that I noticed how much light there still was in that darkness.’ ...
